The elegy ritualizes grief into language and therefore makes it more bearable.  It turns loss into remembrance and delivers an inheritance. Edward Hirsch

Animal companions become important members of our families. They comfort and console us, offer companionship, entertain us, and help us to become more caring and understanding humans.  The death of an animal companion can be as difficult as losing a member of our family or a dear friend.  For many of us the loss of a family pet was the first loss we may have ever experienced and it still hurts.

Maybe it has been days or months or years.  The time does not matter the feelings of grief are there.  In this course I am inviting you to write into the love of the sacred connection of animal companionship. Poetry can bridge the gap between love and loss creating a bond of connection that brings peace and acceptance.

We will start with a short meditation, read some poems and then you will be given time to write.  You will be invited to share your poems or experience if you like.
